About the Seljuk Eagle
The double-headed eagle was the imperial emblem of the Seljuk Sultanate of Rum — the Anatolian branch of the Great Seljuk Empire that ruled from Konya and shaped the cultural, architectural, and spiritual foundations of what would become the OttomanEmpire. The eagle, facing both East and West, symbolized dominion over two worlds and the union of earthly and divine power. It adorned the gates of Konya, the tiles of Divrigi, and the coins of sultans.
