The Ottomanhâtem — the signet ring — was an instrument of authority. A document without a seal was a document without force. The seal transformed words into acts, intentions into obligations. The sultans had their seals; the viziers had theirs; the merchants and the scholars and the judges had theirs. Each seal was unique — a combination of name, title, and sometimes a phrase or a verse — and the impression it left in wax or ink was legally binding in a way that a signature alone was not. The ring that carried the seal was therefore not merely decorative. It was the physical embodiment of a person’s identity and authority, worn on the hand that would press it into the document.

This ring takes the rectangular face of the Ottomansignet — the broad, flat surface designed to carry an impression — and engraves it with a single initial. The rectangle is the form of the seal, the form that says: this is the space where identity is declared. The circumference of the band is set with black micro zircon stones — small, precise, restrained, the opposite of ostentation. The band is solid 925 sterling silver, made to your size.
