Zircon is one of the oldest minerals on earth — specimens have been dated to over four billion years, older than most of the planet’s surface rock. It occurs in a range of colors depending on trace elements and radiation exposure over geological time, and black zircon — darkened by natural irradiation — has a depth that synthetic stones cannot replicate: a surface that absorbs light rather than reflecting it, that reads differently in different conditions, that rewards close attention.
In the Ottoman tradition, dark stones carried specific associations. Black was the color of authority and gravity in court dress — the color of the kürk, the fur-lined robes worn by senior officials, and of the ink used to write imperial decrees. A ring set with a dark stone was not a ring of mourning; it was a ring of weight, of seriousness, of the kind of presence that does not need to announce itself. The Anatolian kuyumcu — the goldsmith and silversmith — understood this, and the tradition of setting dark stones in heavy silver bands for men has continued without interruption from the Ottoman period to the present.
This ring carries a black zircon stone set in a wide band of solid 925 sterling silver. The stone is bezel-set, flush with the surface of the band, so that the profile is clean and the stone is protected. The silver is polished to a high finish that contrasts with the depth of the stone.

Daily Wear: Avoid prolonged exposure to harsh chemicals, cologne, perfumes, soaps, and chlorinated pool water.
Storage: When not in use, store your piece in a dry place, preferably inside its original gift box to minimize oxidation.
Cleaning: Gently polish with a soft silver cleaning cloth when needed. Avoid abrasive materials.
Plated pieces: On gold, rose gold or rhodium plated designs, wipe gently with a soft dry cloth only — polishing cloths and abrasives can wear the plating over time.
