Ayatul Kursi — the 255th verse of Surah Al-Baqarah — is the most widely memorized verse in the Quran. It describes the throne of God, His knowledge of all things, and His sovereignty over the heavens and the earth. The Prophet, peace be upon him, said that whoever recites it after each prayer will be under the protection of God until the next prayer. It is recited before sleep, before leaving the house, in moments of fear. It is the verse that Muslims reach for when they need to feel held.
