The hadith is recorded in both Bukhari and Muslim, which places it among the most rigorously authenticated sayings in the Islamic tradition. A man came to the Prophet and asked about the Hour — when it would come. The Prophet asked him what he had prepared for it. The man said he had not prepared much in the way of prayer or fasting, but that he loved Allah and His Messenger. The Prophet said: al-marʾū maʾa man aḥabba — a person will be with those whom he loves.

The companion Anas ibn Malik, who narrated this hadith, said that nothing had made him happier since becoming Muslim than hearing these words. The statement is not a promise contingent on deeds; it is a statement about the nature of love itself — that love is a form of orientation, and that orientation determines where one ends up.

This bracelet carries that phrase at its center in Arabic calligraphy: al-marʾū maʾa man aḥabba. The upper and lower registers of the face can be engraved with two names — the names of the people who will wear it, or the names of those they love. The shoulders of the bracelet carry a protective prayer and the Ayat al-Kursi — the Throne Verse, Quran 2:255 — which has been used as a protective inscription in Islamic metalwork since the earliest centuries of the tradition.
