In the Islamic tradition, the concept of silsile — the chain of transmission connecting a teacher to a student, a family to its ancestors — was understood as a living structure, branching and rooted simultaneously. Ottomangenealogical manuscripts frequently depicted family lines as literal trees, with names written into the branches in a calligraphic hand. The tree was not merely a metaphor: it was a diagram of belonging, of who came from whom and who carried what forward.

This ring renders that idea in solid 925 sterling silver. The band is worked with a bark texture — the surface carved to suggest the grain and depth of aged wood — and set with red stones at the points where branches meet. Up to four names can be engraved into the ring, one for each branch: a parent, a child, a grandparent, a partner.
