Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi used the word hiç — nothing, nothingness, zero — not as an absence but as a destination. The word hiç in Persian and Ottoman Turkish carries this weight — it appears in the mystical poetry of the Divan-ı Kebir as both a question and an answer. What are you? Nothing.
