The falcon occupied a singular position in the Ottomancourt. Falconry — baz in OttomanTurkish, from the Persian bāz — was not a sport in the modern sense; it was a discipline that demonstrated the capacity to take a wild creature of exceptional speed and instinct and bring it into a relationship of trust without breaking what made it exceptional. The sultans maintained dedicated falconers, doganılar, as a formal corps within the palace hierarchy. The birds were housed, trained, and cared for with a level of attention that reflected their symbolic weight: the falcon was an emblem of sovereignty, of controlled power, of the ability to see clearly from a great height and act with precision.

In Seljuk and early Ottomandecorative arts, the falcon appears repeatedly — on tilework, on metalwork, on the carved stone reliefs of Anatolian caravanserais. It is almost always shown in the moment before flight or the moment of return: wings partially extended, head turned, alert. Not the kill, but the readiness. That is the image this ring carries.

The falcon is carved in relief on the face of the ring, worked by hand into solid 925 sterling silver. At the center of the composition sits a natural moonstone — a feldspar mineral whose adularescence, the floating light that moves beneath its surface, has made it a stone associated with intuition and inner clarity across cultures from ancient Rome to the Ottomanworld. The band is substantial, made to order.
