The motorcycle entered American culture in the years after the Second World War, carried by veterans who had learned to ride in the military and came home to find civilian life too quiet. The clubs that formed in California in the late 1940s — the Boozefighters, the Pissed Off Bastards, the early Hells Angels — were not primarily criminal organizations; they were communities of men who had been through something together and needed a way to stay in motion. The motorcycle was the vehicle for that, literally and otherwise. It required skill, attention, and a tolerance for exposure — to weather, to road, to the possibility of things going wrong. It rewarded those qualities with a kind of presence that a car, with its enclosure and its comfort, could not provide.

The biker ring emerged from that culture as a marker of membership and identity — heavy, legible, worn on the hand that grips the throttle. Silver was the material of choice: durable enough to survive road life, workable enough to carry detail, and with a history in American Southwest jewelry — Navajo silverwork, turquoise and stamped silver — that gave it an outlaw-adjacent authenticity. The rings that came out of that tradition were not delicate. They were objects that announced themselves.

This ring carries a detailed motorcycle figure engraved on a wide silver face — the engine, the frame, the wheels rendered in fine relief against the polished ground. The band is solid 925 sterling silver, substantial in weight and width, made to order.
