The bark of a tree is not decorative. It is the record of the tree’s life — the accumulated evidence of seasons endured, of growth continued despite pressure, of a surface that has been tested and has held. Anatolian craftsmen have understood this for a long time. The tree, the branch, the vine, the leaf appear throughout the decorative arts of the region — in the carved stone reliefs of Seljuk caravanserais, in the woodwork of Ottomanmosques, in the silver and copper objects made in the workshops of Bursa, Trabzon, and Istanbul. The motif is not ornamental in the Western sense; it carries meaning. Strength that has been earned. Endurance that is visible.

This ring takes that tradition and works it into solid 925 sterling silver. The surface of the band is textured by hand to replicate the grain and ridge of bark — not stamped from a mold, but worked individually, so that each ring carries its own pattern. At the center sits a navy blue zircon. The color is significant: in Ottomandecorative arts, the deep blue of lapis lazuli and cobalt — the blue of İznik tiles, of illuminated manuscripts, of the domes of Bursa — was the color of depth, of the sky at the moment before dark, of something that could not be fully measured. The zircon carries that quality in a stone: a blue that changes with the light, that is not the same color in every room.

The sides of the ring can be engraved with initials — your own, or those of the person you are giving it to. Send us the letters after placing your order and we will confirm before production begins.
