The top face of this ring is set with a piece of natural red amber, into which a scorpion is engraved in relief. The scorpion is rendered in detail — claws, segmented tail, and stinger — and sits within the amber surface rather than above it, giving the engraving a depth that changes with the angle of light. Red amber ranges from deep cognac to warm brick-red in tone; the exact color of each stone varies slightly, as amber is a natural material with no two pieces identical.

Amber is fossilized tree resin, formed over millions of years.
